A popular destination on the island is the beach just down from the Grand Hotel where a plaque marking the spot Seymour's character Elise McKenna famously asks Richard Collier, played by Reeves, "Is it you? The cult time travel romance filmed on the island in and released the following year. The Grand Hotel even has a "Somewhere in Time" suite with paintings of scenes from the film. Millions are mourning the death of Christopher Reeve today who passed away at the age of 52 from heart failure. Chris was a dear personal friend of Jane Seymour and James Keach. When asked about her favorite co stars, Jane has always named Christopher Reeve, describing the time she spent with him filming the cult classic Somewhere in Time as the best experience she has ever had on a film set. Since the accident that paralyzed him in , Jane has referred to Chris as her inspiration, a friend who had come to mean so much to her that she named one of her twin sons after him. Those of us who never had the opportunity to meet Chris Reeve on such a personal level, will remember him as a man who refused to give up and who used his own personal pain to help heal others by working tirelessly toward a cure for spinal chord injuries.
She should have been a shoo-in for Meggie. But an unfortunate accident thwarted her dream. At the time, Seymour had recently given birth to the first of her four children, daughter Katherine. She was asked to stop breastfeeding before her screen test, because it made her too voluptuous to play teenage Meggie. She dutifully did so about a month before meeting with Richard Chamberlain, who was to play Father Ralph. It was not good — quite a puddle, you would say. It was the most embarrassing thing.

MSN Live! In their first chat together, Jane and Christopher step back in time with fans as they remember the making of what has now become a cult hit for fans., P eople who know me know I am spontaneous, and determined "to go for it", as those who read my story INSITE's July '91 issue can attest, and I guess I proved them right again, when I flew off to New York with one day notice to have a "reunion" of sorts with Christopher Reeve, who I hadn't seen in person since the making of Somewhere In Time , 14 years before.
