Depending on the internal structure of cell, organisms are divided into two types i. Prokaryotic organism are those which lacks true nucleus and membrane bound cell organelles. Eukaryotic organisms are those organisms which have true nucleus with nuclear and nucleolus and also contain all membrane bound cell organelles. Contain part of respiration and in some photosynthetic machinery. Sterol and carbohydrate is present that serve as receptors. Do not carry out respiration and photosynthesis. Glycocalyx Present as a capsule or slime layer.

All living organisms can be sorted into one of two groups depending on the fundamental structure of their cells: the prokaryotes and the eukaryotes. Prokaryotes are organisms made up of cells that lack a cell nucleus or any membrane-encased organelles. Eukaryotes are organisms made up of cells that possess a membrane-bound nucleus that holds genetic material as well as membrane-bound organelles. The cell is a fundamental component of our modern definition of life and living things. Cells are regarded as the basic building blocks of life and are used in the elusive definition of what it means to be "alive.

Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic Cells are different in many aspects like prokaryotic cells do not have defined nucleus whereas eukaryotic cells have.

Cells fall into one of two broad categories: prokaryotic and eukaryotic. However, prokaryotes differ from eukaryotic cells in several ways. This figure shows the generalized structure of a prokaryotic cell. A prokaryotic cell is a simple, single-celled unicellular organism that lacks a nucleus, or any other membrane-bound organelle. We will shortly come to see that this is significantly different in eukaryotes.

Prokaryotic cells do not have a well-defined nucleus but DNA molecule is located in the cell, termed as nucleoid , whereas eukaryotic cells have a well-defined nucleus , where genetic material is stored. Based on the structure and functions, cells are broadly classified as Prokaryotic cell and Eukaryotic cell. Prokaryotic Cells are the most primitive kind of cells and lack few features as compared to the eukaryotic cell. Eukaryotic cells have evolved from prokaryotic cells only but contain different types of organelles like Endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi body, Mitochondria etc, which are specific in their functions. But features like growth, response, and most importantly giving birth to the young ones are the commonly shared by all living organisms.

Your body's composed of trillions of cells - lots of different types of cells that make up different organs and other parts of your body.

The smallest living organisms only need one of these building blocks and others only need a handful. More complex life forms on the evolutionary tree, such as moss, saguaro cacti and black bears, are made up of millions or trillions of cells that cooperate to form an individual organism. All of these cells , whether they operate as a solitary bacterial cell or as part of a complex system such as the human body, can be sorted into two main categories: eukaryotic cells and prokaryotic cells. Most of the organisms in the world are made of prokaryotic cells, and these are usually unicellular. Prokaryotes are bacteria and archaea.

The distinction between prokaryotes and eukaryotes is considered to be the most important distinction among groups of organisms. Eukaryotic cells contain membrane-bound organelles, such as the nucleus, while prokaryotic cells do not. Differences in cellular structure of prokaryotes and eukaryotes include the presence of mitochondria and chloroplasts, the cell wall, and the structure of chromosomal DNA. Prokaryotes were the only form of life on Earth for millions of years until more complicated eukaryotic cells came into being through the process of evolution. Most are unicellular, but some prokaryotes are multicellular.
