How to Import and Trim Audio in iMovie 11/10/9/8/7
There is nothing worse than an out of sync audio and video in iMovie. Thankfully, the issue is fixable by extracting the audio from the project and re-adding it.and
To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question. So I'm trying to sync a video recorded on iPhone X , and some audio that I separately recorded on an external microphone through my MacBook Pro. When I import the audio and video into iMovie, I align the audio waves at the start of the video so that they are both entirely in sync, which isn't a problem. However, when I scan through the rest of the video to see if it has stayed in sync throughout, the audio is suddenly 2 or 3 seconds out of line with the video. This is happening even though both the audio and video are in perfect sync at the start of the video. If anyone has any ideas on how this can be fixed so the entire video will be in sync with the separate audio file, that'd be amazing. Thanks in advance!
To import the audio into iMovie , simply drag it over. Wait a couple seconds for the waves to load then place it approximately in line with the camera audio. Use the zoom tool to double check if both waves are lined up. Now go to the end of the clip and do the same thing. The next step is to lower the volume of the camera audio. You can also adjust the volume of your imported audio up or down.
Here we are in iMovie with some footage that was shot with on a Canon 70D. The first step is to bring in our audio. We can easily do this by d ragging and dropping the sound clip into our timeline. The next step is to turn on the audio waveforms. This step is crucial! I like to clap 3 times before I start recording my videos. As you can see in the screenshot below, this makes the spikes in my audio easy to line up when we are syncing the audio and video together in iMovie.

Once the footage is imported, keep everything else on the default settings, except for the frame rate options. Now, change this frame rate to 60fps. As a result, this allows us to maintain the quality of our video once it has been created. And HandBrake does a wonderful job of that. I hope this helped you out.
Synchronize video with background music
As a result of pinning, if you move a beat marker, the clip that is pinned to the beat marker moves with it. Create a new project. Add a background music track to the project. The colored well that represents the track starts out as a small square, but it grows as you add video clips to it. Add beat markers to the background track.
