This is been one of, if not the, best season of quality dancers. Usually, there are one, two or three standouts, but this season, it was especially heart-wrenching when someone was voted off since almost all were terrific. With the show drawing toward its finish, host Cat Deeley in a lavender dress as sparkly as her personality started the countdown. First, Zack was named in fourth place, and after a few more performances, Jessica was announced as the third-place finisher. With only Ricky and Valerie left standing, Cat asked them to repeat their first duet of the season when they were paired for several weeks. From the first moment that Ricky stepped onto any of the stages in the auditions, the callbacks and the live performances, he stood out with his awesome technique and ability to put his emotions into his dances.

This years line up of contestants is better than ever: tappers, ballet, hip-hop, jazz, contemporary. All the dancing bases are covered. This years dances are also harder than ever, featuring for the first time I believe non-ballet dancers doing ballet routines. It's going to be an interesting watch! For those that don't know the show: SYTYCD producers traverse the country looking for the best of the best to represent American dance. Callbacks are held in Los Angeles, here the dancers are whittled down from hundreds to just twenty top dancers.

Spoiler Alert! Tonight's finale was, as usual, two hours of the season's best performances, from Zack and Valerie's Top 20 tap number to Jessica and Robert's gorgeous contemporary routine from last week's episode. Earlier in the broadcast, it was revealed that jazz dancer Jessica Richens and tapper Zack Everhart were in third and fourth place, respectively, meaning it was now down to tapper Valerie Rockey and contemporary dancer Ricky. While all four are pretty incredible dancers who make us feel bad about the fact that we like to brag about only kind of being able to moonwalk, Ricky was an obvious frontrunner from the start. We still occasionally think about his top 20 performance with Jessica, which you can watch below:. So far, So You Think You Can Dance has not been renewed for a 12 th season, but Fox had better get on that since we're pretty sure our summer wouldn't be the same without our favorite summer show.
