Why did I start this journey? Well, let me tell you a bit about myself. Well I decided to type things out instead. My joints were starting to ache, even just sitting at my desk at work. I could barely get up off the floor when playing with my grandson. Walking up the stairs in my house made me become out of breath. Well I should have been in a size larger or into the Plus sizes.

For me, food is fuel. I have a few Code Red-approved staples I enjoy eating on a daily basis. They provide plenty of nutrients, healthy fats, and a bit of protein. But most days, especially when left to my own devices, I consume at least one of these foods. Broccoli and Brussel sprouts are jam-packed with all kinds of vitamins and minerals, and I love them both! I also enjoy a big salad. Avocado, butter, eggs, macadamia nuts, and salmon are some of my favorite healthy fat sources.

When you have a few favorite go-to meals, you feel confident that you have a plan in place for success. My go-to meals are easy, healthy, AND delicious. You want to have a vegetable, meat, and fat in every meal with very little or no carb and sugar to keep the insulin down. You cannot lose weight or fat in the presence of insulin. Adjusting to eating no grains, dairy and sugar was hard at first and then within the second week it became easier and less tempting. I eat eggs and bacon every morning and love it. I knew when Cristy said you can eat bacon that this was a plan that would work for me!

I want to share this program with everyone, my kids, my family, co-workers, friends, strangers on the street! This lifestyle has changed my life, I just wish I had done it decades ago. I know this is sounding a lot like an infomercial, but no…. I am not getting paid to promote her program! I have gone from a size 16 to a size 8. Before I started, my blood sugars were at pre-diabetic levels, my bad cholesterol was over the normal limit and I was anemic. I also had horrible hormonal migraines every month that have almost gone away entirely.

With the holidays here, I shared an article by an author that really inspired me. Actually I should clarify that. I was always bigger than average, even as a child. Always the tallest girl and built like a brick outhouse, as the saying goes. Even when I was teenager and had stopped growing taller, I was extremely muscular and solid. While I should have embraced my athletic build, I was embarrassed all the time about how much bigger I was than the other girls.
