In their early years, Lennon and McCartney wrote songs together and one Most musicians that write songs but can't read music or can read it but . Another thing is that Paul (and I am sure the others) would sing the notes.

Not something he's ashamed of and probably rightly so, as even without traditional notation skills under his belt he's proved himself one of the greatest musicians of all time. Forget the 60 gold discs, million single record sales in the UK, 31 No 1 hits in the US and a listing in Guinness World Records as the "most successful musician and composer in popular music history", Sir Paul still is that same kid. I would. A far cry from the usual celebrity wedding, the "do" was "low-key affair" and very "Liverpool lad". Loads of family and friends. Rather than fork out for a DJ, McCartney roped in his two grandsons to provide the music and wrote his own first dance wedding song.

But even after more than 50 years behind the microphone, Paul McCartney still has self-doubt. I think a lot of people could learn from the way he manages fame. In the video above, he tells of a quiet moment between the bandmates, when John Lennon revealed that he also felt uncertain ó about his own legacy. As McCartney explains on the broadcast, his friendship with Lennon was complex. Songwriting partners since they were teenagers, the two collaborated in writing some of the most popular songs in music. A sense of competition also pushed them to create even more, even though Lennon only complimented McCartney once. Lennon was also able to tell McCartney when his lyrics needed tweaking.

McCartney said that while it would be nice to be able to, the music just came to him and his bandmates John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison. We did some good stuff though. But none of it was written down by us. The Liverpudlian lads were clearly doing something right. Their songwriting techniques are what made The Beatles unique in an era where everybody was copying everybody.

With a string section behind him, Paul McCartney's classic tune sounds reason was more practical: No one in The Beatles could read music.

Well of course they could write music just not write it down.

Back to the BeatlesÖ.. And they heard and sang melodies with shapes, arcs, and that told a story. I was able to listen intently to the Beatles original, hear the melody, the band orchestration, the backing vocals ó and by the way, there are choir harmonies in just the backup vocals, each verse with a different chord inversion! Those pesky Beatles! Often, they would tell Martin what kind of sound they wanted, and Martin would guide them to the result. When they wanted something to sound like Bach in the break In My Life , then Martin would help them out in figuring how to get the result they wanted.
