Posted by Kevin Aug 8, Reviews. Being the smart home enthusiast that I am, I had it narrowed down to a small handful of new smart air conditioners. Of course, I refuse to pay for central air conditioning being that I live in New England and only use it a few months out of the year. We have smaller air conditioners for the bedrooms upstairs, but I really needed something that I could control remotely and turn on when we were on our way home. Not only that, but I tend to be lazy and wanted to be able to turn the unit on or off with my voice from the comfort of my couch. So the name and brand have a very healthy history.

The Frigidaire Gallery is a solid air conditioner that's efficient to run and has mobile app controls. Although it's a bit heavy, its balanced design makes it one of the best portable air conditioners available. Most portable air conditioners have tradeoffs, the most common being sacrificing energy efficiency for better cooling performance. It is a balanced portable air conditioner with three fan speeds that is not only powerful at cooling, but also energy-efficient and feature-rich with a sleek design. An excellent five-year compressor warranty helps make this an outstanding choice for your home. This Frigidaire unit quickly cools most rooms up to square feet, which makes it an excellent option for many small homes or apartments.

This window unit delivers efficient cooling at a decent price while still being easy on the ears. This 8, Btu unit cools as efficiently and effectively as any model with an equal Btu rating and runs at a lower volume and deeper pitch than others at this price. Little extra features like smart-home compatibility and a removable drain plug help set it apart, too. This Frigidaire unit is easy to install and cools a room about as well as our top pick for around the same price. People appreciate the ability to control it with a phone app, too, and its cooling performance is on a par with that of our pick and runner-up.

After a month of using it, I now remember that no gadget is truly perfect—not even if you want it to be. And I wanted this snazzy white box to be perfect. The same goes for plenty of cities around the world. Good design is about much more than looks. Beyond the almost Apple-inspired white exterior, the Frigidaire AC features a filter that pops out the front, instead of sliding out the side like my old unit, the Quirky Aros.

The BTU Gallery Smart AC is capable of cooling rooms of up to square feet. As with the now-discontinued Quirky Aros, this model blows air upward rather than straight outward. Control buttons include Power, Mode (Fan, Eco, Cool), Temperature (up and down), and Fan Speed.
