There is a theme to each week's competition, generally in the vein of the type of goods the competitors are to bake Amateur Australian chefs compete to impress patisserie chef Adriano Zumbo with their sweet creations. Those who don't fit the brief go head to head in the 'Zumbo test' to replicate his unique desserts.

The seventh series of The Great British Bake Off aired from 24 August , with twelve contestants competing to be crowned the series 7 winner. For the first challenge, the bakers were given two hours to make a drizzle cake, the brief being that the cake be moist and well permeated with the drizzle. For the technical challenge, the bakers were instructed to make Mary's recipe for twelve jaffa cakes. The recipe used a whipped fatless sponge , orange jelly and tempered chocolate with a design of sorts. For the final challenge, the bakers were instructed to make a mirror glaze cake.

Paul and Prue set three challenges to test the bakers' skills, including an intricate, multi-layered landscape Showstopper that could win them the title. The remaining bakers are just three patisserie challenges away from the biggest day in their baking lives. But the heat is really on now from Signature to Showstopper. Velkommen to Danish Week with a bread Signature requiring style and substance; a spherical Technical; and an elaborate pastry Showstopper fit for a Danish birthday party. It's a Bake Off first with Vegan week, including a savoury pastry Signature without butter, a cracking Technical, and a risky but spectacular Showstopper.

We lost cute, positive Kate to her battered failures and she was definitely missed this week! Mel and Sue introduced us with crazy Bake Off Yoga stances and kept us on our toes with their silly puns!
